Panasonic Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for Ninth Consecutive Year, also Named Industry Group Leader

    Panasonic Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

Panasonic Corporation was named again in 2013 to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI World), one of the world's renowned socially responsible investment (SRI) indexes. This is the ninth consecutive year that the company was named to DJSI World since 2005.

Further, this year Panasonic was named as the Industry Leader*1 of the Leisure Equipment & Products & Consumer Electronics Industry, and as one of the 24 Industry Group Leaders*2 selected from among the other industry leaders in the industry group (Panasonic as the leader of the Consumer Durables & Apparel Industry Group).

*2 Industry Group Leader: Selected for each of the 24 industry groups as the upper tier of the 59 industries

DJSI World is a stock index created by S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC in the US and RobecoSAM AG in Switzerland, which evaluate the sustainability of companies in terms of the economy, environment, and society. Each year, about 2,500 of the world's largest companies are evaluated, and only the top 10 percent of these companies are named to DJSI World. This year there were 333 companies named to the index.

Panasonic has been lauded for its environmental management, climate strategy, operational eco-efficiency and other environmental initiatives in the Leisure Equipment & Products & Consumer Electronics Industry, which covers consumer products such as electronics and cameras. As a company close to consumers, customer relationship management and brand management are part of another area where Panasonic is lauded, and it has also been recognized for its initiatives in compliance, risk management, and respecting human rights as a responsible corporation.
