Panasonic Gobel Indonesia celebrates 50 years

Panasonic held a celebration for the 50th year anniversary of Panasonic Gobel Indonesia in the Grand Ballroom of the Ritz Carlton Pacific Place in Jakarta on August 25. The event was attended by over a thousand people including the Japan Ambassador in Indonesia, Mr. Kojiro Shiojiri,the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Ir. M.S. Hidayat, the President of Panasonic Corporation, Mr. Fumio Ohtsubo, the President Commissioner of PT Panasonic Gobel Indonesia (PGI), Mr. Rachmat Gobel, the President Director of PGI, Mr. Ichiro Suganuma, the Board of Director of Panasonic-Gobel Group, and representation of Panasonic's dealers and suppliers all over Indonesia.

Celebrating 50 Years of Synergy

In this past year, various events have been conducted in Indonesia to commemorate the synergy of Panasonic Gobel. For example on July 18, a long march race and blood donation event was held, involving around 7000 participants consisting of Panasonic employees and their families, dealers and suppliers. Through these celebrations, Panasonic commemorates the success of the joint venture of Panasonic Gobel that has reached its 50 years anniversary and also sincerely thanks the people of Indonesia who have been supporting the business success of Panasonic Gobel Indonesia.

Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia reduced its CO2 emissions by 30% or 7523 tons in the year of 2009 versus 2006. Creating innovative and environmentally friendly products will continue to be the main theme of Panasonic in order to meet its vision of becoming the No. 1 Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry by 2018.

How Panasonic Gobel Indonesia came to be

The Panasonic-Gobel cooperation began in 1960, at which time a technical cooperation agreement between PT Transistor Radio Thayeb Manufacturing and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Japan) was signed. Two years later, the first black and white televisions were produced in Indonesia with technical support from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., and through this cooperation and synergy sharing, both companies grew positively together. On July 27, 1970, a joint venture between PT Transistor Radio Manufacturing and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd was formed under the PT National Gobel. In 2004, the National brand was changed to Panasonic, and since then the company has become known as Panasonic Gobel.
